A business can have healthy-looking click-through rates and still pay for searches, locations or users that were never likely to become customers. The useful question is not “is Google Ads working?” but “which parts of the spend are earning the right to continue?”

A proper review starts with the actual search terms, not just the keywords selected in the account. It then connects those searches to geography, device, landing page and the conversion action being counted. A conversion called “lead” is only useful if it represents something the business genuinely values.

The aim is not to declare every imperfect click “waste”. Some discovery is part of advertising. The aim is to find patterns large enough to change a decision: queries that repeatedly consume budget without commercial intent, locations that never produce useful outcomes, or campaigns optimising towards a weak conversion signal.

Before increasing budget, make sure you can explain what a valuable conversion is, which searches are producing it, and what you would stop funding if the next €1,000 had to come from somewhere else.

Before you spend more, find out what deserves priority.

The Growth Investigation examines the business, market, search visibility, competitors and other relevant evidence, then sets out what we'd do next and why.
